Bobby Porcelli
New York native Bobby Porcelli (b. 12/16/37) is one of Latin and Afro-Cuban jazz's most accomplished flautists and alto saxophonists. An exciting soloist influenced heavily by Charlie Parker and Sonny Still, Porcelli's alto has soared gracefully above the legendary percussive ensembles of Machito ('65-'66), Mongo Santmaria ('87-'90), and Tito Puente ('66-'00). Since the early '80s, Porcelli has toured Europe as a single, playing with local rhythm sections across the continent and performing at many festivals. An original member of T.S. Monk's sextet as well as the Monk on Monk Tentet, Porcelli has demonstrated his ability to creatively interpret the idiosyncratic pianist's quirky compositions.
Cita Rodriguez
Cita Rodriguez is the Salsa singer, daughter of Fania All-Star Pete "El Conde" Rodriguez. She performed and recorded with the Mambo Legends Orchestra and is on the Grammy nominated Watch Out! Ten Cuidao!
David Chamberlain
Raised in Buffalo, Dave Chamberlain began playing trombone at the age of ten, inspired by watching his four cousins perform in a brass quartet on the Ed Sullivan Show. He began doubling on flute in high school, going on to earn a B.S. degree in flute and later an M.S. in trombone. His primary teachers have been Anthony Gorruso, John Wummer, Carmine Caruso, John Swallow, and John Rojak.
Since coming to New York, Dave has added the bass trombone, tuba, euphonium, and bass trumpet to his arsenal. Band of Bones is his fourth CD as a leader. Dave’s other projects include the Hora Decima Brass Ensemble and the Afro-Caribbean group Direct Latin Influence.
Dave has played with Jaki Byard’s Apollo Stompers, Dean Pratt, Mike Longo, Gary Morgan’s Pan Americana, Bill Whited, and Sam Rivers. Best known for his work in the Latin field, Dave has performed and recorded with Tambo, Conjunto Melao, Wayne Gorbea, Cruz Control, Dave Santiago, the Mambo Legends Orchestra, and Direct Latin Influence (DLI). He has also performed with Tito Puente, Rafael Cortijo, Kako, Mon Rivera, the Lebron Brothers, and the Big 3 Palladium Orchestra. Dave toured with the National Company of Cats and was the Latin band leader (with Direct Latin Influence) for six years at the prestigious Rainbow Room in Rockefeller Center.
Frankie Vazquez
Frankie Vazquez, born on January 6, 1958, in Salinas, Puerto Rico. Frankie is vocalist on the Mambo Legends Orchestra’s Grammy nominated Watch Out! Ten Cuidao!
Gerardo ‘Jerry’ Madera
A native of New York City, Gerardo “Jerry” Madera, son of the famed musical arranger and lead tenor sax Jose "Pin" Madera for the Machito Orchestra, and brother of great Latin music arranger, Jose Madera. Jerry has been immersed in music from the very beginning. At the age of 12, after being inspired by his father’s music as well as great bassists such as Bobby Rodriguez, Victor Venegas, Eddie “Guagua” Rivera, Sal Cuevas and many others, he began to play the bass and has been doing it ever since.
During his musical career, some of the important artists he has performed and recorded with include Johnny Pacheco, Tito Puente, Eddie Palmieri, Richie Ray and Bobby Cruz, Tipica 73, Joe Cuba, Hector Lavoe , The Mambo Legends Orchestra, Jose Alberto “El Canario”, Adalberto Santiago, El Cano Estremera and Alfredo De La Fe etc. Jerry is considered on of the top called bassists on the Lain music scene.
George Delgado
George Delgado, who is of Puerto Rican descent, was born in the Bronx, NY, on July 19, 1965. When he was six years old, George’s father began teaching him how to play congas and timbales. From that point onward, Delgado took over his own musical education and learned to play all forms of percussion.At fourteen, Delgado began playing timbales with Tito Rojas’ El Conjunto Borincano. Since then, he has played with Santiago Ceron, Manny Oquendo’s Libre, Tony Vega, Tito Nieves, Eddie Palmieri, Tito Puente, Celia Cruz, Jimmy Bosh, Steve Torre, Spanish Harlem Orchestra, Soneros del Barrio and many other accomplished Latin Jazz musicians.Artists who have influenced Delgado include: Jose Mangual Sr., Manny Oquendo, Johnny Rodriguez, Jimmy Delgado, Eddie Montalvo, Nicky Marrero, Tito Puente, Ray Barretto, Orestes Vilato, and Yeyito Iglesias.Actively involved in music education since 1989, Delgado first began teaching percussion at Johnny Colon’s East Harlem Music. He joined Boys Harbor Performing Arts as a teacher in 1992 after being introduced to the Center by his good friend, Jimmy Delgado.George has traveled throughout Europe, Japan, The Caribbean and the United States, and has performed clinics for the Abanico School in Paris, France. He is currently working and touring with Eddie Palmieri. Delgado is also working on his own music project and hopes to begin writing a beginner’s book and video in the near future.
Jorge Maldonado
Jorge Maldonado was born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, on September 24, 1950. "El Veterano" (The Veteran) is a lead singer and hired gun for various Salsa outfits. Has sung lead on over twenty two albums & has done both chorus & percussion work for over seventy five albums. Made his recording debut on Orch. Bronco, on the Inca label in 1975. He also has recorded as a solo act on two albums 'En Su Momento' on JORMA RECORDS & his eponymous title on SAR/GUAJIRO. Jorge is a vocalist on the Grammy nominated Mambo Legends Orchestra album Watch Out! Ten Cuidao!
Kevin Bryan
Kevin Bryan, lead trumpet player for the Duke Ellington Orchestra, Bobby Sanabria’s Big Band, and the Mambo Legends Orchestra
Acclaimed for his artistic use of a plunger mute and his ability to sit in on many styles of jazz, he was always in demand to tour and record.
He appeared with jazz greats including Harry Connick Jr. and Tito Puente, and popular artists including Norah Jones, k.d. lang, Levon Helm, Michael Bolton, and Macy Gray. His discography runs to several dozen albums beginning in the late 90s, including three in just 2018. He also worked regularly on Broadway and could be found sitting in with many classic jazz bands in the New York City area. Kevin performed and recorded with the Grammy nominated Mambo Legends Orchestra until his passing in 2018.
Lewis Kahn
A Juilliard-trained musician, Kahn along with Barry Rogers, Mark Weinstein, and José Rodriguez played a vital role in developing the powerful, unmistakable New York trombone salsa sound. Also, he appears on hundreds of recordings as a sideman with artists ranging from Celia Cruz and Tito Puente to David Byrne and the Fania All-Stars.
Kahn was primarily known as a trombonist, but his skills as a violinist were featured prominently in Larry Harlow’s orchestra and can be heard on the hit, La Cartera(among others), which earned him the title, El Otro Judio Maravilloso (the second marvelous Jew, Larry Harlow being the first).
Lewis performed and recorded with the Mambo Legends Orchestra until his passing in 2019.
Marco Bermudez
Born in Ecuador, into a family with a rich musical heritage, Marco Bermudez is a performer-composer and studio musician of all Latin music styles. For the past twenty-five years he has lived in New York. Marco has toured around the world with the top Latin artist: Tito Puente, Celia Cruz, Chemo Feliciano, Oscar d’ Leon, Tito Nieves, Domingo Quinonez, Jose Alberto and all artists of the RMM record label. Marco’s discography includes: “RMM All Stars 10th Anniversary CD/DVD Live” at Continental Arena NJ; the CD “Recorded a Selena” (RMM), and “Tropical Tribute to the Beatles” CD/DVD recorded live at Radio City Music Hall.
At the present, Marco is one of the singers for Spanish Harlem Orchestra.
As a singer and composer Bermudez has collaborated on past and present SHO productions providing lyrics for “Son de Corazon” “Regalo de Dios” “Que Bonito” “La Fiesta Empezo.” The upcoming SHO CD, due out in 2014, will bring a couple more of Marcos lyrics to the public.
In addition, Marco is one of the singers for Mambo Legends Orchestra, made from the ex-Tito Puente Orquestra, with whom he had recorded two cd’s as a lead back-up singer. The latest being “Watch Out”. Marco was one of the three singers for pianist Isidro Infante’s Elite Orchestra with whom he recorded two albums: “La Elite 2″ and “Licencia para Enganar.” As a duet with his brother Eduardo, he recorded the CD “Pasillos Manabitas” for Success Records label as a Tribute for ”Copa America” in Ecuador(1993). Additionally with Jhonny Almendra y “Los Jovenes del Barrio”, Marco was the lead singer of the “Es Difernte” CD.
He also was invited to record his original tune titled “Contrapunto” for the classic/Jazz pianist Uri Caine in CD “The Goldberg Variations”. Marco has been lead singing, recording and touring with Ray Castro’s “Conjunto Clasico” since 2000 to present, and his recordings in 2004 is a Grammy winner CD; “Across 110Th Street”, “United we Swing” and “Viva la Tradicion” with “Spanish Harlem Orchestra”; sharing credits with musicians; Oscar Hernandez, Paul Simon, Ray de la Paz, and the great Ruben Blades.
At the present; Marco is also giving final touches to his solo Album, “Marquiviri, Sabor y Sentimiento”; produced by Oscar Hernandez and with the participation of all SHO members; the CD will include Marco’s Original tunes and couple of the all times finest salsa covers.
Peter Brainin
Born in the Bronx, saxophonist Peter Brainin has distinguished himself over the past 15 years as a member of many important bands, and also as a composer and leader of his own adventurous projects outstanding leadership. He earned a B.A. in performance at the New England Conservatory of Music. His work as a sideman includes 10 years (1989 - 1999) with legendary pianist Hilton Ruiz. He toured the States and Europe in 1992 with Mongo Santamaria and since 1995 has been a featured member of the Chico O’Farrill Afro-Cuban Jazz Orchestra. He has performed and recorded with the Grammy nominated Mambo Legends Orchestra since their inception. Peter has also been acclaimed for his work on Bobby Sanabria's Grammy-nominated big band recordings. He has been recorded on over 100 c.d.'s. Other bands and artists Peter has performed and/or recorded with include: Paquito D'Rivera, Randy Brecker, Wynton Marsalis, Bebo Valdez All-Star Latin-Jazz Big Band, Joey Calderazzo Quartet, Randy Weston, Jon Faddis, and many others. Peter's compositions and arrangements can be heard on his 2 original CD's ("Ceremony” and "No Saints, No Sinners”) recorded with drummer/co-leader Steve Johns and which also feature the work of George Cables, Conrad Herwig, Eddie Henderson, and Ben Monder. He was twice awarded the BRIO Fellowship Award for musical composition by the Bronx Council on the Arts.
Pete Miranda
Pete has worked and recorded with many top Latin American Artists, including the late Tito Puente, Machito and Celia Cruz. He is also on three Grammy winning recordings. Pete is versatile in his music, he lives music. There are no limitations for him. Pete has played and is still on call with Rock Bands including 5th Dimensions, Martha Reaves and the Vandella's, Jay and the Americans, The Drifters and The Four Tops. He has also performed with many New York, New Jersey and Westchester Swing Bands. Pete has also backed up many celebrity singers/dancers including: Chita Rivera and Frank Davi ( Actor ) Rosie Perez and Jon Secada.Pete is currently playing with the Mambo Legends ( Tito Puente Alumni's ). He has done four recordings with them. He takes time from playing to work with the Multicultural Music Group Inc. teaching music and theory to school children throughout NYC Public Schools. Under his direction the program has won four 1st place trophies for competitions with various schools.It is no wonder that through his peers and family Pete Miranda is the best at what he does. When he plays ( a quote from a Band leader) you are in for a roller coaster ride.
Pete Nater
Grammy-winning artist Pete Nater has established himself as a prominent figure in Latin music as a bandleader, musical director, arranger, trumpeter, and composer. His impressive career spans decades, during which he has played with and led some of the most renowned Latin orchestras in the world. Notably, Pete was a member of the Grammy Award-winning Spanish Harlem Orchestra from 2002 to 2008, and he has been a part of The Mambo Legends Orchestra since 2009. He also performed with the Latin Giants of Jazz (2002-2009), the Frankie Ruiz Orchestra (1995-1998), and the Larry Harlow Orchestra, where he continues to perform since joining in 1974.
Pete has co-founded and led Grupo Fascinacion since 1983, and from 1997 to the present, he has served as the musical director of the Ray Sepulveda Orchestra. He played a key role in Chico O’Farrill’s Afro-Cuban Jazz Orchestra (2008-2014), contributing to its Grammy-winning success. His collaborations extend to many other acclaimed groups, such as The Bronx Horns (since 2001), the Latin Legend Band (since 1994), Ralph Irizarry’s Son Criollo (1998-2002), and Richie Viruet’s Blue Clave (since 1998). Pete’s versatility as a trumpeter and arranger is evident across his work with a wide array of bands and orchestras, including Viento De Agua, Seguida, Nestor Sanchez Band, and Orlando Marin’s Orchestra, where he currently serves as musical director.
Throughout his career, Pete has performed, recorded, or jammed with some of the most iconic figures in music, including Ray Barretto, Machito, Johnny Pacheco, Tito Puente, Eddie Palmieri, Charlie Palmieri, and Hector LaVoe. His impressive list of collaborations also includes international stars such as Marc Anthony, Celia Cruz, Ruben Blades, Paul Simon, Cyndi Lauper, Dizzy Gillespie, Wynton Marsalis, El Gran Combo, and many more. His diverse experience also extends to working with celebrated musicians and bands like The Mingus Band, Giovanni Hidalgo, Tipica 73, and Sonora Poncena, to name just a few.
Pete Nater’s passion for music continues to shine as he leads his own projects, including Pete Nater & Associates, while still collaborating with many of the industry’s most respected names.
Richie Viruet
Richie Viruet was born, raised, and musically educated in NYC. He has been playing trumpet professionally since 1984. Richie has been singing most of his life.
His background is mostly latin music and he comes from a musical family. His mom and grandpa were both professional guitarists and bassists. Richie was introduced to the latin music business early on and started performing at 14 years old and started touring with bands around the world at 18.
He has either performed with, worked with, toured with, jammed with, shared the stage with and/or been in the presence and learned from some of the most iconic artists, musicians and bands in the world including Celia Cruz, Marc Anthony, Spanish Harlem Orchestra, Wynton Marsalis, Prince, Eric Clapton, musicians and artists from the Fania All-Stars, just to name a few. Richie has performed and recorded with the Grammy nominated Mambo Legends Orchestra.

Ricky Gonzalez
First-call pianist, keyboardist and multi-instrumentalist Ricky Gonzalez maintains perfect balance between the worlds of tradition and innovation. Whether it's R&B with Jennifer Lopez, pop salsa with Marc Anthony, jazz with Dizzy, Latin-Jazz with Puente or hard salsa with Barretto, Ricky moves seamlessly through each genre with the greatest of ease. His work has garnered several Grammy Awards through the years and he shows no sign of slowing down.
Ricky currently tours with Latin superstar Marc Anthony, Pop diva Jennifer Lopez and Salsa legend Willie Colon. When not traveling, he is a first-call session player in New York and works steadily as a producer and arranger.
Noted for producing the mega-hit dance track "I Like It Like That" for Tito Nieves, the chameleon-like artist makes the blending of musical genres seem effortless. His production and performing credits include legends Ray Barretto, Celia Cruz, Mongo Santamaria, Dizzy Gillespie, Tito Puente, the Fania All-Stars, George Benson, Dave Valentin and a long list of others. Many of the salsa hits of the last two decades bear Ricky's stamp as arranger, performer or producer – and in many cases, all three.

Sam Burtis
Sam Burtis began playing the tuba and eventually the trombone during his school years. During this time he met Carmell Jones, Chubby Jackson and John LaPorta, who supported him in his career; In 1963 he was a member of Chubby Jackson's band. He then studied at college in Ithaca and briefly at Berklee College of Music before moving to New York in 1967 to, among other things, to study with Jimmy Knepper. Sam played with and performed with the Mambo Legends Orchestra until he passed in December 2023.
Sonny Bravo
Sonny Bravo (born October 7, 1936), is an Afro-Cuban jazz and Latin jazz pianist. Sonny was a member of popular group Tipica 73 that was responsible for several historical recordings that helped preserve the Cuban music genre. Sonny has performed with luminaries such as Manny Campo, El Casino de Miami, Willie Bobo, Mongo Santamaria, Johnny Pacheco, Bobby Paunetto, and many others. Sonny was Tito Puente's main piano player for many years until Tito's passing. He played with the Grammy nominated Mambo Legends Orchestra until the time of his retirement.
Tokunori Kajiwara
Tokunori “Kaji” Kajiwara a Native of Japan, Tokunori “Kaji” Kajiwara was born in 1975. Kaji Started playing trombone when he was 5th grade. Kaji decided to come to the US after talking with his family, and finally arrived in Chicago, on January 6th, 1995. He studied at the Chicago Musical College of Roosevelt University. During this period, he met Mayo Tiana, former trombone player with Ray Charles Orchestra. He graduated in May of 2000 with Bachelor’s Degree in jazz trombone performance with Dean’s Awards, and the went back to Japan.
Kaji spent the next two years in Japan practicing, and then in May of 2002, he got a scholarship from the Manhattan School of Music, and moved to New York City. At the MSM, he studied trombone under Steve Turre, and joined Bobby Sanabria’s Afro-Cuban Jazz Orchestra and also performed with the MSM Jazz Orchestra and Concert Jazz Band directed by Justin DiCioccio. He graduated in 2004 with a Masters Degree in jazz trombone performance.
Since graduating MSM, he has been very active in the New York City music scene. He has toured with legendary Cuban pianist Bebo Valdes (Chucho’s father) in Spain, toured with Arturo O’Farrill’s ALJO in Greece, Switzerland and U.S., Spanish Harlem Orchestra in U.S., Jimmy Bosch and has performed with McCoy Tyner, Paquito D’Rivera, Steve Turre, Arturo O’Farrill, Eddie Palmieri, Andy Gonzalez, Luis Bonilla, Edy Martinez, David Sanchez, Dave Valentin, Nicky Marrero, Albita, Oscar Brown Jr., Jerry “the Iceman” Butler, the Village Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, the Mingus Big Band, Chico O’Farrill the Afro-Cuban Jazz Orchestra, Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra, The Mambo Legends Orchestra (formerly known as The Latin Giants of Jazz), the Ray Charles Orchestra, Mike Longo Big Band, Frank Lacy’s Vibe Tribe, and the Brooklyn Big Band. He has also appeared at top venues such as Birdland, The Blue Note, Jazz Standard, Iridium, Sweet & Rhythm, The Village Vanguard, Minton’s Playhouse, Zinc Bar, Smoke and SOB’s.
Kaji participated in recordings of Arturo O’Farrill and Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra “The Offense of The Drum”(2015 Grammy for Best Latin Jazz Album), “40 Acres and a Burro” (2012 Grammy Nominee for Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album), Arturo O’farrell and The Chico O’farrell and Afro Cuban Jazz Orchestra “The Final Night at Birdland” (2015 Latin Grammy for Best Instrumental Album) Mambo Legends Orchestra

Vito Chiavuzzo
Originally from New Jersey, Vito Chiavuzzo began playing the saxophone at age nine with the encouragement and support of his musical family. He went on to receive a BA in Jazz Studies & Performance from William Paterson University and an MA from the Manhattan School of Music. Chiavuzzo has performed in such venues as the Radio City Music Hall, Madison Square Garden, Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola, B.B. King’s, the Apollo Theater, Smoke Jazz and Supper Club, The Jazz Standard, Smalls, as well as the Monterey and Rochester Jazz Festivals and festivals in Ireland, Austria, Portugal, and Germany. He has had the good fortune to play with a wide variety of artists including Aretha Franklin, Gladys Knight, Annie Lenox, Lenny Kravitz, theFins Blues Band, and the Grammy nominated Mambo Legends Orchestra (formerly theTito Puente Orchestra). He has also played alongside many jazz luminaries including Slide Hampton, Donny McCaslin, John Riley, Steve Wilson, James Williams, Maria Schneider, Christian McBride, Michael Mossman, Joe Magnarelli, Jim Rotondi, Dave Stryker, Jon Gordon, Frank Wess, Bob Mintzer, Rufus Reid, James Spaulding, Steve LaSpina, as well as with theSmoke Big Bandled by Bill Mobley, theAmerican Jazz Repertory Orchestraled by Clem DeRosa and numerous other big bands. While attending the Henry Mancini Institute, Chiavuzzo participated in a Grammy-nominated recording featuring clarinet virtuoso Eddie Daniels and saxophonist Tom Scott. He has also recorded with hip-hop artist, Redman, gospel artist David Bratton and the Spirit of Praise, singer/songwriter Natalie Riccio, NY’s premier hip hop soul band, C Phineas, the Grammy nominated Mambo Legends Orchestra, and with Aretha Franklin for an HBO special commemorating the 25th anniversary of the Rock and Rock Hall of Fame. Influenced by a wide range of musicians, from Charlie Parker to James Taylor, Chiavuzzo is gaining wider recognition as a versatile musician with a strong personal voice.
